Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with fitness icons and influencers during the nation-wide online Fit India Dialogue, celebrating the first anniversary of the Fit India Movement.
The online interaction saw PM Modi, a politician who is also hailed by many for his fitness and yoga along with Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and numerous doyens from the world of fitness, sharing their views and opinions on health and wellbeing.
The dialogue was opened up by Indian Paralympic Javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia, who narrated his inspiring journey of making India proud at the International stage. The Interaction was joined in further by Kashmiri footballer Afshan Ashiq, who was also praised by PM Modi for her journey. Other doyens like Milind Soman and Virat Kohli also had joined the dialogue sharing their fitness stories.
Adressing the digital gathering, PM Modi emphasized on the importance of keeping fit. "Fitness Ki Doze, Adha Ghanta Roz," said Modi, adding that every Indian should play some game or do some fitness activity, be it Tennis, Badminnton, Kabaddi - it has to be for half an hour.
PM Modi also stressed the importance of mental health saying that the reverse of 'In a sound mind, is in a sound body' also hold true.
He added- "Usually, our parents teach us all good habits. But for fitness, the trend has reversed a little. Youngsters are taking the lead in helping their parents get a fit lifestyle."
