Following the ruckus created by the opposition in the Rajya Sabha over the passing of the Farmer reform bills on Sunday, 8 MPs were suspended by the house for the remainder of the Monsoon Session. The MPs, including popular opposition leader Derek O'Brien of the Trinamool Congress decided to stage an all-night protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament premises. AAP's Sanjay Singh posted a picture on Twitter from the protest site in the morning and said that the "whole night was spent under the open sky in front of Bapu's statue".
As the protest went on by the opposition MPs, Harivansh Singh, the Deputy- Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, against whom the opposition members had submitted a No-Confidence motion after the commotion over the farmer bills on Sunday, brought and served them tea.
This act of benevolence shown by the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, despite being disrespected by a few of the same very lot of leaders, was hailed by leaders across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Modi who expressed his appreciation in series of tweets hailing Harivansh Singh's "Stateman-like conduct".
